So it was the fall of 2015 and Jony Ive, could not hold back his excitement to show Tim Cook a concept he had been working on for the past some time. So he ushers Tim Cook to sit in a minivan which had no steering wheel, was fully autonomous and the interiors were highly futuristic, just like a new branded home decor. Then Jony Ive asked Cook to speak a command to Siri which was voiced over by a human female voiceover standing beside the minivan.
So, this was the inception of an ill-fated Apple project named as Project Titan which after 10 years and some 10 billion dollars down the line, was eventually wrapped up and around 2000 employees previously working on the EV project were shifted to the AI division.
